How to be a pretty darn good Grandfather

Hello … Bonjour … Welcome … Bievenue

My name is Mark and I am the 61 year-old grandfather of Ava and Sophie, my two wonderful Montreal area granddaughters. My first insight and a first contribution that I’d like to make in response to my opening question of “How to be a pretty darn good grandfather?” is that  pretty darn good grandfathers will always want to be current in the lives of their grandchildren and be demonstrably interested and empatheticly invested in caring that their grandchildren know that their grandfather knows that they know that you care…details to follow…. An brief welcome to Chez Pa

A brief welcome to Chez Pa…

Hi…Thanks for stopping by…My name is Mark and I’m a grandfather… If you’re here and you’re a grandfather too, then welcome….part of me is already feeling accomplished

If you’re here just because you’re browsing or maybe you’re thinking about another grandfather (that you already know or might one day want to become) then welcome to you too…

My primary hope is that visitors to my website will find Chez Pa to be an interesting, worthwhile and fun place to be…to read/think about being a grandfather…

I expect that Chez Pa will offer its guests a safe and supportive online environment wherein the personal experience of being a grandfather can be comfortably described and constructively engaged…

At its core, Chez Pa will be my personal blog on the joys and challenges associated with my grandfathering experience…My secondary ambition is that Chez Pa has also successfully engaged in reaching out to other grandfathers who have somehow indicated to me their interest in contributing to the greater good by sharing their joys and challenges too (leave a note for me in the comments section and I’ll be in touch)….Tertiary goals that I have for my website is that it can also serve as an Affiliate resource location from where products or services of potential interest to grandfathers can be identified/purchased and from which I can receive financial compensation…

I hope that you find the information herein to be of interest and inspiration enough that you’ll share word of our internet presence with members of your personal network

Why I have created this website…

First of all, if you’re like me you may still be shaking your head in disbelief that becoming a grandfather has actually happened and at just how quickly you got there…Grandfathering does indeed compel an appreciation for the passing of time…the experience of being a grandfather has likely already impacted you in countless and often surprising ways…

I think that the tasks assumed by people who attempts to provide a written reflection on their full experience of being a grandfather avails of its author and his readership an opportunity for insight, inspiration and honesty while considering/dentifying the interconnectivity of multigenerational life…the people who’ve come to Chez pa are likely those who expect/want to read and contribute to the recounting of the personal experience of grandfathering…

As an online resource, the evolving mission of Chez Pa will be to continue to provide its members factual information on issues/themes relevant to the interests and lifestyle of grandfathers and with a curated forum for constructive communication among its members…

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best

In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules

In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission released their new rules for Disclosure Compliance. These rules are set in place to ensure that readers or viewers of web media (blogs, Youtube videos, etc.) know if the blogger/presenter is sponsored, endorsed, or partnered with a different company. In blog terms, the readers need to know if the blogger is making money by sharing a link or product.

In compliance with the FTC guidelines, please assume the following about links and posts on this site: Any/all of the links are affiliate links of which I receive a small compensation from sales of certain items.

What are affiliate links?

Purchases are made on external affiliate company websites: When a reader clicks on an affiliate link located on .com to purchase an item, the reader buys the item from the seller directly (not from Amazon and/or other companies pay a small commission or other compensation for promoting their website or products through their affiliate program.

Prices are exactly the same for you if your purchase is through an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link.

I use two main types of affiliate programs:

1. Amazon affiliate links. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties including, but not limited to, Amazon offers a small commission on products sold through their affiliate links.

If a blogger links to an Amazon product (with a special code for affiliates embedded in the link), and a reader places an item in their “shopping cart” through that link within 24 hours of clicking the link, the blogger gets a small percentage of the sale. Amazon links are not “pay per click.” If you click on the product link and stay around Amazon and purchase something else, however, I will get commission on that sale.

Anytime you see a link that looks like… or… it can be assumed that it is an Amazon affiliate link.

2. Product affiliate links.

These affiliate links work the same way: if you click the link and buy the product, then the blogger gets a percentage of the sale or some other type of compensation. Things like e-book bundles, e-courses, and online packages are usually affiliate links, as well. Again, prices are not different if you use these affiliate links. You will not pay more by clicking through to the link. These links are not “pay per click”, unless otherwise denoted.

What about sponsored content?

I do not write sponsored posts. I want to bring you real, unbiased information. However, if a post is sponsored by a company and it is a paid sponsorship, I will disclose this clearly in the beginning of the post.
